MLPC - Calgary and MLPC Calgary Candidates, Peggy Askin - Calgary
Centre North and Andre Vachon - Calgary West, both Worker Politicians
invite you to a Political Affairs Discussion this Sunday, January
15, 2005.
Where: Calgary Outdoor Council, 1111 - Memorial Drive NW
Time: 1pm - 3 pm
Below are the two topics we would like to start discussion on.
1. THE URGENT NECESSITY TO FIND A WAY TO CHANGE THE SITUATION WHERE CEO'S ARE
RUNNING THE COUNTRY. This is an Election Issue.
2. THE CONSEQUENCES FOR WORKERS AND THE IMPLICATIONS FOR SOCIETY WHEN MONOPOLIES
LIKE TELUS ARE PERMITTED TO ACT ABOVE THE LAW
TELUS DISREGARDED AND VIOLATED THE LAW WITH IMPUNITY FOR OVER FIVE YEARS. THE
MINISTER OF LABOUR DID NOT DEMAND THAT CANADA'S LAWS BE UPHELD AND EVERY MP IN
ALBERTA WAS SILENT ON THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A CONCERN OF OUR ENTIRE SOCIETY
WHEN A CULTURE OF IMPUNITY BECOMES THE NEW "NORMAL" This
is an Election Issue.
OPPOSING CORPORATIONS ACTING WITH IMPUNITY IS A DEMAND FOR JUSTICE,
FOR A RULE OF LAW THAT IS BASED ON SERVING THE INTERESTS OF THE
PEOPLE AND DEFENDING THEIR
RIGHTS.
If you have any questions or comments or ideas on how we can make workers rights
and the rights of all and issue in this election bring it up at the discussion
Sunday or if you cannot attend and want to contribute please call : 283 7054
or email Peggy @ peggy.askin@shaw.ca
