| Invitation
to Talk by Sandra Smith/Leader MLPC
Hi Everyone,
I am inviting you and other workers to come to what I think will
be a lively discussion this coming Thursday evening. Sandra Smith
the leader of MLPC, The Marxist Leninist Party of Canada, (the
party I ran for in the election) is going to be in Calgary next
Thursday.
Sandra is also the Editor of TML Daily. I thought it would be great
to have people join together for some political discussion on the
Agenda of the Harper government and on how we can organize so that
CEO's do not continue to run this country.
Our right to job security, the rights of all , our social programs,
the sovereignty of our country and opposing the war agenda of the
Harper government are big concerns for all of us.
I listened to David Emerson on CBC this morning. As you know he
was the CEO of the largest Forestry Company in Canada. He was crowing
about the Softwood Lumber Free Trade Deal and blatantly said he
went into politics to influence government policy and he did not
care in the least that he was elected to one Party and jumped to
another, one that received only 11% of the popular vote in his
constituency in the Federal Election. To these CEO's and the Harper
Government accountability and representation means nothing. Their
system is an unrepresentative democracy. To us modern democracy,
where elected representative are subordinate to the people and
we have the ability to directly participate in selecting and electing
our own candidates and participating in governance means everything.
Come if you can on Thursday and join what I think will be an interesting
presentation and useful discussion on the Harper Agenda and developing
practical politics to realize our own Agenda. For us to take up
Politics ourselves as a way to defend our interests what better
way than to analyze what this agenda is and how to organized for
our rights and the rights of all within the current situation.
If you are interested or able to come please email me back so I
will have some idea of who is coming, or give me a quick call at
283 - 7054.
The Discussion will take place at the Calgary Area Outdoor Council
at 1111 Memorial Drive NW ( The Old Fire Hall on the corner of
Memorial and 10th by the River) May 4th at 7 PM.
P.S. See you on May Day at 4.30 PM. Between last weeks Solidarity
Action with the Six Nations , our Meaningful and powerful Day of
Mourning March and Ceremony , May Day this Monday and the Building
Trades Picket the afternoon of the 4th, downtown Calgary will be
filled with our demands and Information.
All the Best to Everyone,
Peg Askin
